והפעם שתי מפיות מתוקות ממש מטעם מועצת החלב
מהימים שחלב נחשב ל"מקור הבריאות" ושתי כוסות חלב היו טובות מכוס חלב
בעצם גם היום מנסים לדחוף לנו חלב בכל הזדמנות והנימוקים לא ממש השתנו, אבל אין ספק
שהכל הרבה פחות חמוד

This time I got 2 super sweet napkins printed by the Israeli dairy council.

Back then, milk was considered as a "source of health" and two glasses of milk where better than one.Actually, now days it seems like they didn't really change their strategy, but it's much less cute.

והפעם מפית נוספת ממסעדה שאיננה איתנו עוד - קפטריה פרק ששכנה בדיזנגוף פינת גורדון

ללוגו הסאלוני משהו משודך מזלג כחול שנראה קצת מסכן ותלוש. סביר להניח שנשלף ממאגר הדימויים בבית הדפוס. אחרי הכל מסעדה ומזלג הם שילוב קלאסי וכנראה די מתאים למקום נטול יומרות ומלצרים

This napkin comes from a Tel-avivian restaurant that does not exist any more - Cafeteria Park. In the 60's you could find this self service hub in Dizengoff and Gordon st. The logo's type has a western saloon feel into it, while the poor blue fork seems a little lonely down there and probably was added at the print house to fill the empty space. After all, a fork is a classic for a restaurant, mostly when it has no pretensions and no waiters.

At the inner part of the napkin you can find the sponsor's logo. In this case it's Strauss - the dairy company. Every time a huge company like Strauss gives its logo a trendy new make-over I start compering the versions. Usually the old version wins like in this case.
I find this logo as one of their super fun versions.

והפעם מפית נהדרת מסטקיית הטייסים  - נקודת ציון שכל נתנייתי ותיק זוכר ולאו דווקא בזכות הסטייקים הבינוניים שהוגשו בה, אלא בעיקר בשל המטוסים המפורכסים שעיטרו את חצר הסטקייה סטייל מסעדת דרכים אמריקאית (אחד מהם היה בכלל מטוס מחופש למסוק באופן חובבני). יש סיכוי שהמקום יזכר גם בזכות הדיל המדהים - טייסים ואנשי צוות חיל האוויר מקבלים סטייק על חשבון יחזקאל ג'ורג' הלא הוא בעל הבית

 ברוח הימים שאחרי מלחמת ששת הימים בה אנשי צבא היו סוג של אלילי פופ מקומיים, היה אך הגיוני לפנק את הבנים בנתח בשר חרוך בפיתה ולנגב את הטחינה במפית עם הדפס של 3 מטוסי קרב

For this post I got a wonderful napkin from Stekiyat Hatayasim (pilots steakhouse) -
a famous landmark every Nataniya born and raised would remember, though probably not for the mediocre steaks that they used to serve in pita bread (a very popular fast food that started spreading around Israel in the 60's). 

The reason is more likely to be the combat airplanes decoration at the steakhouse's front yard (one of the planes was disguised as a helicopter..), and also the mega deal they used to have - pilots and air force soldiers in uniform get a free steak! 

In the period of post 67 war, when military persons were almost like pop idols, it made sense for the owner - Mr. Yechezkiel George - to treat the boys with a well done piece of meat in pita bread and serve a napkin with a 3 combat airplanes print to wipe the tahini sauce off their face.

אז כמו שאתם רואים התחלתי לכתוב בשפת אמי הלא היא עברית. מפיות התחיל כבלוג לחברים שאינם דוברי השפה בזמן שהתגוררתי בניכר, ולמרות שהשפה הטבעית היתה צריכה להיות עברית, האנגלית היתה הבוס. אז לשמחת העוקבים עכשיו יש עברית, אבל האנגלית נשארת עבור הקוראים החביבים תוצרת חוץ
ולעניין אחר, אני מאוד מחבבת פילים. ועושה רושם שאני לא היחידה מכיוון שהם מככבים על שתי המפיות האלה בגאון. החיבור בין פילים לאלכוהול לא חדש ונראה לי שהוא קיבל תוקף בקטע  מצעד הפילים המפורסם של דיסני מתוך הסרט דמבו

So, as you can see, Mapiot blog has started posting in Hebrew and English! Good news for the Israeli  followers and a chance to practice you Hebrew for all of you readers out there..

So, Israel has just celebrated its 64th birthday yesterday and it's an awesome chance to upload another napkin that glorifies IDF in the 60's naive style. 

Back then, when the Israeli army was a common visual reference, nobody thought there's something weird or unusual in using soldiers, pilots, sailors, paratroopers and warcraft as a commercial for margarine (yep. margarine once again!).
Mata margarine, the competitor of Gold-band margarine from the last post, salutes the Israeli flag with a soldier shaped margarine pack. A sure hit for any patriotic housewife.

Pure awesomeness! A series of 4 funky napkins by Thelma Blue-Band - the food company that is responsible to beauties such as Gold band margarine and instant sachleb.
All prints are in 3 colors showing off a food product and an illustration that logically has something to do with it. The mushroom soup has an illustration of a mushroom, but also a dwarf is included.
I guess that was the only mushroom image in the designer's stock. Also, a bird and instant tomato soup. Why? Because.
