לאחר חופשה משובחת בניכר חזרתי לארץ לגלות שהקיץ התחיל בלי יותר מידי גינוני הקדמה. מה שהביא אותי לאוורר את המפיות  הקיציות שמסתובבות להן באוסף
זו למשל מגיעה מהסדרה הנהדרת "מזכרת מישראל"  - סידרה של מפיות מהזן היותר עמיד ואיכותי - המתארת סצינה תיירותית מפוקפקת של צפייה בדגים. אני יכולה לשער שמדובר בכינרת או אילת בימים שכל דג עברי עורר התרגשות וגאווה לאומית, אבל התקציב איפשר רק שיט בסירה רעועה למדי, במקרה הטוב עם תחתית שקופה
החוויה מתוארת באיור המתוק הזה כחוויה חלומית בה אפילו אדם משופם ומעונב מצטרף לנשף  הדגים ואפילו גבירה מתוכשטת משתתפת בסיור כנראה בנסיון לצבוע את האטרקציה הזו בגוונים  יוקרתיים יותר ממה שאפשרה המציאות

Just got back from a lovely vacation abroad to discover summer has hit Israel with full power! That's an excellent excuse to dig out from the collection box the summer-napkins.
This one for instance, is a part of the adorable series of napkins - "Souvenir of Israel" from which I have posted in the blog before.
This one describes an old Israeli touristic attraction - Fishspotting.
I can only assume the scene takes place in Eilat or Tiberius, where people would take a ride in a crappy old boat to check out the local fish in the water. If you were lucky, the boat had a glass bottom that you could see through.
In this sweet and dreamy illustration we can also spot a dude with a bow tie and a lady with fancy jews. Probably there to add some luxurious vibes to the story.

Mapiot blog also cherishes non-Jewish holidays as you can see.
This one, found in the collection, is pretty notable fot its accurate print and also the very bright and saturated colors of the print that lasted about 50 years.
No dis about the Israeli print industry of the 60's, but it's pretty obvious this napkin arrived from a country abroad.. Happy holydays!

Two is better than one - טובים השניים

בעצם גם היום מנסים לדחוף לנו חלב בכל הזדמנות והנימוקים לא ממש השתנו, אבל אין ספק
שהכל הרבה פחות חמוד

This time I got 2 super sweet napkins printed by the Israeli dairy council.

Back then, milk was considered as a "source of health" and two glasses of milk where better than one.Actually, now days it seems like they didn't really change their strategy, but it's much less cute.

אז כמו שאתם רואים התחלתי לכתוב בשפת אמי הלא היא עברית. מפיות התחיל כבלוג לחברים שאינם דוברי השפה בזמן שהתגוררתי בניכר, ולמרות שהשפה הטבעית היתה צריכה להיות עברית, האנגלית היתה הבוס. אז לשמחת העוקבים עכשיו יש עברית, אבל האנגלית נשארת עבור הקוראים החביבים תוצרת חוץ
ולעניין אחר, אני מאוד מחבבת פילים. ועושה רושם שאני לא היחידה מכיוון שהם מככבים על שתי המפיות האלה בגאון. החיבור בין פילים לאלכוהול לא חדש ונראה לי שהוא קיבל תוקף בקטע  מצעד הפילים המפורסם של דיסני מתוך הסרט דמבו

So, as you can see, Mapiot blog has started posting in Hebrew and English! Good news for the Israeli  followers and a chance to practice you Hebrew for all of you readers out there..

This time we have an elephant celebration in two different napkins from the collection.
I believe the alcohol-elephant connection was born at Disney's famous elephant parade bit from the movie Dumbo.

מהמפיות האלה ממש התרגשתי! סידרה של 4 מפיות מהממות מאת תלמה בלו-בנד שאחראית בין השאר לדברים יפהפיים כמו מרגרינה גולד בנד ואינסטנט סחלב
המפיות מודפסות ב3 צבעים ומציגות איורים של המוצר בתוספת איורים קישוטיים בעלי קשר לוגי  תלוש ברמה זו או אחרת. למפית מרק הפטריות דאגו לצייר פטריות כמובן, אך איכשהו השתרבב לשם גם גמד. אני לא אתפלא שזה היה האיור היחיד של פטריה שהיה למעצב באותו רגע בסטוק

Pure awesomeness! A series of 4 funky napkins by Thelma Blue-Band - the food company that is responsible to beauties such as Gold band margarine and instant sachleb.
All prints are in 3 colors showing off a food product and an illustration that logically has something to do with it. The mushroom soup has an illustration of a mushroom, but also a dwarf is included.
I guess that was the only mushroom image in the designer's stock. Also, a bird and instant tomato soup. Why? Because.

A super cute and groovy 3 colors napkin from the 60's of a pretty much eclectic animal band.
Makes me wanna leave everything and learn to play a banjo!

As a cat lover I would definitely be a regular in a bar that serves this kind of napkin with my Bloody mary. I really like the 2 color use to create all the little details so we understand there's a boy-girl situation here. I also found another colors combination for this design. Both are great!
